World Heart Day is observed every year on 29 September to raise awareness about cardiovascular health and encourage people, communities and institutions to take action for healthier hearts. The World Heart Federation (WHF) identifies cardiovascular disease as the world’s leading cause of death and, for its 2026 campaign, is highlighting the importance of recognising heart disease that may go unnoticed.
The 2026 campaign also encourages movement: WHF's “Keep the Beat” challenge invites people to aim for 20 minutes of movement each day during September.

Every heartbeat is a reminder that life is precious.
A healthy heart is supported not by one single action, but by the choices we make every day — how much we move, what we eat, how we care for our health and whether we seek appropriate medical attention when something feels wrong.
Do not wait for a health warning to begin caring for your heart.
