The International Day of Peace is observed every year on 21 September. The United Nations established the Day in 1981, and in 2001 the General Assembly designated 21 September as an annual day of non-violence and cease-fire.

In 2026, the United Nations highlights the people who build peace through everyday actions — in classrooms, families, neighbourhoods and communities. Peace is not simply the absence of war; it is also connected with safety, dignity, opportunity, dialogue, cooperation and respect for human rights.

To develop a culture of peace, non-violence, empathy, respect, dialogue and cooperation among students, teachers, professionals, volunteers and communities.

Peace is not something that begins somewhere far away.
It begins in the way we speak to a classmate,

Let us not simply celebrate Peace Day.
Let us become people who practise peace every day.

Institutions may conduct the International Day of Peace activity as an SDG-focused educational, youth and community-engagement programme.

1. Conduct the activity in the institution / community.
2. Capture clear photographs and short videos.
3. Prepare a brief report covering objectives, activities, participation and outcomes.
4. Send the documentation through WhatsApp: 𝟵𝟵𝟰𝟰𝟯𝟭𝟯𝟵𝟱𝟯 (WA).
5. Recognition is subject to the applicable programme process and guidelines.

Eligible institutions and participants may receive appropriate appreciation or participation recognition according to the programme guidelines.
