International volunteer day December 5

International Volunteer Day (IVD) celebrates the spirit of service, recognising millions of volunteers who contribute selflessly to community welfare, development, and humanitarian support. It is a day to honour individuals and organisations committed to helping others.

▪️Promoting volunteerism as a powerful tool for social change
▪️Encouraging youth participation in SDG-related activities
▪️Recognising volunteers who work in health, education, disaster relief, environment, and community development

𝐖𝐇𝐘 𝐈𝐓 𝐈𝐒 𝐎𝐁𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐄𝐃

▪️To appreciate the efforts and sacrifices of volunteers
▪️To motivate organisations to include volunteering programmes
▪️To raise awareness about how volunteering strengthens social bonds
▪️To inspire people to take part in community-building initiatives

For Schools & Colleges:

▪️Volunteer Pledge Ceremony
▪️Community Clean-Up Drive (beach, village, school campus)
▪️Blood donation awareness campaign
▪️Visit to orphanages/old-age homes
▪️SDG Action Corners led by students
▪️Recognising student volunteers with certificates

For Nursing Students:

▪️First-aid training camps for the community
▪️Health check-up camps in rural/urban slums
▪️Awareness sessions on hygiene, nutrition, maternal health

General Ideas:

▪️Start a “One Month – One Service Activity” programme
▪️Launch a Volunteer Wall of Fame
▪️Conduct a panel talk with NGOs and social workers
