Theme Idea: “Celebrating Our Loyal Friends”

Founded in 2004 by Colleen Paige (animal welfare advocate).

Honors all dogs — adopted, stray, service, and working dogs.

Raises awareness about adoption, care, and preventing cruelty.

𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 Activities

Special 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆 Talk – On importance of dogs, pet adoption, and animal care.

𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 Making – “Adopt, Don’t Shop.”

𝗘𝘀𝘀𝗮𝘆 Competition – “My Favorite Pet” or “How Dogs Make Our World Better.”

𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 Session – Famous stories of dogs (e.g., Hachiko, Laika the space dog).

▪️𝗙𝘂𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀

𝗗𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 Contest – “My Dream Dog.”

𝗣𝗮𝘄 Craft – Make dog masks, bookmarks, or paw prints using paint.

Dog 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝘇 – Famous dog breeds, service dogs in police/army, dogs in movies.

▪️𝗗𝗼𝗴 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗺𝘀

(if school/community allows dogs to join)

Pet 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 – Students bring their dogs for a fun show.

Dog 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄 – Teachers or trainers show how dogs follow commands.

𝗔𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Drive – Tie up with local shelters to promote adopting stray dogs.

𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 an Animal Shelter – Students donate old blankets, food, or medicines.

𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗿 – Collect funds for dog rescue NGOs.

Awareness 𝗥𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 – Spread message: “Be kind to all animals.”

Dear Parents,
Our school will observe International Dog Day on 26th August 2025 to honor our furry friends and raise awareness about animal care. Students will participate in activities such as poster making, storytelling, and a special “Adopt, Don’t Shop” campaign.

Those who have pet dogs are encouraged to share photos for our Dog Photo Gallery. Together, let us spread kindness and compassion for animals.

On 26th August 2025, [School Name] celebrated International Dog Day with joy and compassion. The morning assembly included speeches on the importance of animal welfare. Students created beautiful posters and essays highlighting the role of dogs as loyal companions. A fun quiz on dog breeds and famous dogs was enjoyed by all.

The highlight was the “Paw Pledge” activity, where students promised to show kindness to animals. The event spread a powerful message: “Every dog deserves love, care, and a home.”

𝗔𝗖𝗔𝗗𝗘𝗠𝗜𝗖 𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬 𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗣 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗲 A student scores 32% in Mathematics. Another struggles to read at grade level. A third has failed Science twice. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀? Their names are placed on a “Weak Students List.” They are called for extra classes. Sometimes teachers announce publicly: “𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹.” Classmates know who they are. Parents know their child has been labelled “weak.” Teachers may gradually begin expecting less from them.
