INTRODUCTION

World AIDS Day is observed every year on December 1 to raise global awareness about HIV/AIDS, to support individuals living with HIV, and to remember those who lost their lives to the disease.

It stands as a reminder of the need for continuous education, compassion, and a commitment to ending discrimination.

OBJECTIVES 

• To spread awareness on HIV transmission, prevention, and care.
• To break myths, misconceptions, and stigma.
• To promote voluntary testing and counseling for early detection.
• To encourage compassion, inclusion, and respect.
• To support global movements aiming to end AIDS as a public health threat.

PRIMARY SCHOOL ACTIVITIES 

• Storytelling session on kindness and empathy.
• Drawing activity: “Healthy Habits for a Healthy Life.”
• Red Ribbon paper badge-making.
• Simple hygiene pledge for students.
• Teacher-led talk on good habits and caring for others.

MIDDLE SCHOOL ACTIVITIES 

• Poster-making: “Stop the Stigma.”
• Quiz on health, hygiene, and basic HIV awareness (age appropriate).
• Short film screening simplifying HIV facts for children.
• Essay writing on healthy lifestyle choices.
• Myth vs Fact awareness board.

HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

• Awareness presentation on HIV prevention & treatment.
• Skit on breaking the stigma.
• Campus rally with Red Ribbon symbols.
• Debate: “Awareness vs Fear – Which Influences Society More?”
• Red Ribbon human formation in the ground.

COLLEGE ACTIVITIES

• Expert lecture by a doctor or HIV specialist.
• Blood donation camp in collaboration with hospitals.
• Street play on compassion and health awareness.
• Poster presentation on ART therapy, HIV care, and global progress.
• Social media awareness campaign led by students.

NURSING & MEDICAL STUDENTS ACTIVITIES

• Seminar on epidemiology and treatment of HIV.
• Case study presentation on patient care & ethics.
• Counseling workshop for interacting with HIV patients.
• Rural/community visit for awareness outreach.
• Volunteering at ICTC Centres.

SCHOOL & COMMUNITY INITIATIVES 

• Red Ribbon campus campaign.
• Health Awareness Wall: Myths vs Facts about HIV.
• Assembly pledge supporting compassion and dignity.
• Parent session on adolescent health & safety.
• Collaboration with NGOs or government health centres.

UN-RECOGNITION & APPRECIATION 

Schools/colleges may submit their event report and up to 15 photographs for UN-linked appreciation certificates.
