The second session on Day 2 of GDGMUN began with a vibrant press conference, where student acting as reporters created an atmosphere of excitement and engagement for delegates and the audience alike. This session was attended by notable guests, including Mr. Jacob Kavenkal, Chief Administrator of Arise International Academy; Dr. Mehnaz Rehman, Principal of Birla Open Minds International School; and Dr. Assabah Khan. The event was further graced by the presence of esteemed sponsors, with Mr. Malik Jeelani from Scholastic and Ms. Arjumand Rather from Seed to Plant.
In the press conference, delegates presented their resolution papers, highlighted their collaborative partnerships, and shared insights on future policies and agendas. Participants praised GD Goenka for organizing an inclusive event, making participation accessible for all students with no registration fees—setting a commendable example for other institutions to follow.
The closing ceremony opened with an inspiring speech from Mr. Johnson PJ, Principal of GD Goenka. He expressed deep appreciation for the enthusiasm, cooperation, and spirit of participation shown by all schools and delegates. Mr. Johnson emphasized the importance of creating more frequent opportunities for students to engage in diplomacy, collaboration, and negotiation, calling on the education fraternity to make such events accessible to students everywhere. He suggested that the focus should remain on providing these valuable experiences to students, while expenses on secondary elements like food, awards, and other services could be minimized to better serve this core mission. His vision underscored the fundamental goal of preparing globally-minded future leaders.
Mr. Johnson’s words left a profound impact on the audience, encouraging a renewed commitment to fostering life skills such as communication, collaboration, and critical thinking. He reminded students to view such events not as competitions but as opportunities for personal growth, shared learning, and giving back.
The principal then presented appreciation trophies to the principals of participating schools, followed by an awards ceremony that recognized all delegates, escort teachers, committee chairs and vice-chairs, moderators, rapporteurs, organizing committee members, and the event coordinator. The hall was filled with joy and pride as participants celebrated each other’s efforts.
With heartfelt gratitude and praise for GD Goenka’s hospitality and seamless organization, the GDGMUN -2024 event concluded as a resounding success, leaving every participant inspired and looking forward to more such enriching experiences.
